Our Corner of the Park

Living on Central Park in springtime we get to see color return after a long winter—not as a shout, but as a deliberate bloom. Petals emerge in succession, each giving the others their due. Cherry blossoms cast their brief canopy overhead before scattering across the sidewalks and later gathering in the gutters like wet newsprint. It’s a fleeting transition. In Japanese, they’re known as Sakura, a quiet embodiment of mono no aware—the beauty of the impermanent.

In the cherry blossom's shade

there's no such thing

as a stranger.
